Ever had a meal and then shortly after felt like you had not eaten? Did you go back for more or did you just ignore the feeling? The same thing applies to our lives when we are searching for things to fill a void. These things can be going to the mall and buying clothes, playing video games, or even sleeping. Many other things are tried by teens who are trying to fill a void that all, admitting or not, have felt at one point or another. I discovered a huge void in my life a the age of 13. I began to try and fill this hole with whatever I could, no matter the cost. I did things that got me in trouble, then I did things that had lasting affects on me. |

Many times, dreams have occurred and I have really not seen there purpose. I have wondered what it was that I was supposed to get from my dream. I often searched my life for days to try and discover what the meanings behind my dreams were. I asked family, friends and teachers about my dreams to see if they could interpret them. No matter whom I asked or what was told to me, it never seemed as though there was ever a conclusion to this mystery. Where can I get my answer?

If you put wood into a fire the output is ashes. If you study, your grade should be higher. Believe it or not the things that are input into our bodies have a direct affect on the things that come out. As a basketball coach I challenged my guys to stop drinking soft drinks during the season so their endurance and stamina would not be affected. Many of the players committed to drinking water, milk, juices, gatorade, etc. Several guys wanted to continue to drink soft drinks. So rather than discipline them I allowed them to choose because I knew at some point it would show itself true. Sure enough during the drills and even during the games there was a substanstial difference in the players running up and down the court and their gameplay. After several games had passed the players had started to come to me after the games and say,"hey coach you were right, we will drop the drinks until the end of the season." My point was not so that I would be right but rather to show them that they must be completely focused, prepared and healthy for battle. |

As teenagers grow up they discover they are focused on many things in life. These can consist of school, girls/boys, jobs, activities, church, etc. While students are trying to juggle this schedule they begin to create a life according to what there time is devoted to. Since they are not really sure of what they want to be or do they can over involve themselves. This can cause there lives to be so filled up, that they no longer are choosing what to do but they are following what has consumed their time. It is important to be careful at what we devote our time to because we can miss out on God's calling in our life. We should always seek God first and he will take care of the rest. God has a plan for our lives and we should put this into his hands and he will handle the rest.

Am I important? This is a question that crossed my mind as a teenager and I know crosses other students minds. We are living in a world where students are looked at as being a statistic or rebellious. Look at television and you see things going on in schools that you wonder why is this happening. Even watching a commercial shows that the media is after the student and their money.
